The standards below guide how Peoplespedia profiles should be researched, written, and revised.
Start with reliable sources
Prefer official records, first-person statements, institutional biographies, and reporting from established publications. Link supporting references near significant claims or in a sources section.
Separate fact, estimate, and interpretation
Documented dates and career events should be presented as facts only when the source supports them. Wealth estimates must be identified as estimates. Analysis and interpretation should be clearly distinguished from documented information.
Respect privacy
Focus on information relevant to a person’s public life. Do not publish private contact details, speculative allegations, or unsupported claims about sensitive personal matters.
Use images responsibly
Use portraits only with an appropriate license, permission, or another valid basis. Include attribution and license information where required. A publicly available image is not automatically free to reuse.
Make updates accountable
Review dates, names, quotations, and financial figures before publication. Use the updated date to reflect a meaningful editorial review. Correct significant factual errors and document material corrections in the affected profile.
Commercial transparency
Any sponsored placement or affiliate relationship should be disclosed clearly where it appears. Editorial conclusions should not be presented as independent when they are paid for.
Corrections
See corrections and contact for how to prepare a factual correction request.
